Sharing Jesus in Guatemala

Woodmen students served the people of Cruz Blanca for a week.

Woodmen students were able to serve in Guatemala for a week!

The trip began with VBS in Cruz Blanca. The group split into five groups — Word, Application, Worship, Crafts and Games. The language barrier made it difficult to connect with the kids, but interpreters graciously assisted, and the team learned to find joy in relationships with the kids without needing a lot of conversation!

After VBS, they spent the afternoon delivering water filtered to families in the community. The team was inspired by the faith the families had in the Lord despite the conditions they lived in, and humbled by their willingness to share what little they had.

The next day consisted of more VBS, and some construction! In the afternoon, the group split into teams that each visited two homes in the community. Through a translator, they were all able to thank the families for welcoming them into their homes, and to share the story in John 4 of the woman at the well.

The teams shared that even though the water filters would offer temporary satisfaction, they would always be thirsty for more, and Jesus is the living water that can truly satisfy us. They prayed over the families, and were happy to see most of the families praise God after praying. The students ended the day with a debrief and a time of testimonies.

The students continued to serve at VBS the next two days, and someone was even able to share their testimony with a teenager from Cruz Blanca who deeply related to it and was brought to tears.

The trip ended with an adventure day full of ziplining, pizza, swimming and exploring the area. The Woodmen students grew closer to each other and to the Lord on their trip, and loved sharing the gospel with the families of Cruz Blanca!
