Loving Well in Mexico

Woodmen students served in Mexico for a week.

Woodmen students spent a week serving in Mexico!

They arrived in Tuxtla, Mexico to a warm welcome at the base – the missionaries there left each student a Bible verse and a snack on their beds. The next day, the students drove to Arriaga and settled into their temporary home. They spent time at the church, and were able to go into the community, praying for people and delivering food.

On Sunday morning, the team was blessed to see people accept God into their hearts at church. Then they left Arriaga to return to the base, and spent time in fellowship, exploring, sharing how God was working, dancing and playing volleyball.

The next day was full of prepping the playground to be painted, planting trees, making bricks and meeting people in the village near the base. The students invited locals to join them for a big fiesta in the park. Many people went and we were able to hear the gospel, and to have fun with face paint, basketball and nail painting.

The following two days consisted of more service at the base, and a day of VBS for the local kids! The team performed a skit of Daniel and the Lion’s Den, as well as some choreographed dances which the kids loved. The students planted 32 trees, finished painting the playground and played an endless amount of soccer with the kids.

After a week of hard work, the students rested by exploring the mountain town of San Cristobal, walking through the local markets and savoring the authentic Mexican food. The trip ended with a night of prayer, worship and testimonies of all God had done throughout the encouraging week.
