Why do you go to church?

Well as it turns out, worship is designed to captivate our imagination with the greatest story ever told. More than that, worship invites congregants to participate in this story: every week, we're invited to remember, retell and rehearse the good news of our salvation.

Did you know...

  • The Church's historic liturgy is designed, from start to finish, as a story?
  • Our Protestant reformers used language like "gymnasium" to describe the purpose of corporate worship?
  • The order of the church service (from a call to worship, to confession, the Lord's Supper and benediction) has Old Testament roots?

In this class, you'll learn to approach the corporate gathering with a greater level of intentionality. You'll be able to answer practical questions like, "Why do we do communion at the end of the service instead of the beginning?" or "What is a benediction?". But more than this, you'll see how the Church's liturgy tells one big story that's more compelling, powerful and weighty than any other story the world has to offer us.

This is why worship is the heart of discipleship.
