Love in Action

Every year Woodmen Valley Chapel rallies together with other churches in the Pike’s Peak region to join the efforts of COSILoveYou in sharing the love of Christ through serving our community.

This year, over 100 volunteers from Woodmen Valley Chapel set out to tackle various service projects to meet the tangible needs of nine schools in the area.

From the assembly of furniture to refreshing landscape, spreading 30 yards of mulch and much more, our Monument Campus was able to serve both Antelope Trails Elementary and Bear Creek Elementary.

Partnering with Prairie Hills Elementary, Frontier Elementary and Rockrimmon Elementary, our Rockrimmon Campus Ministry Partners geared up to decorate and paint different parts of each school, helping refresh the classrooms for students and prepare for special events to come.

Even the youngest of helpers were excited to contribute. Genine McGarity grinned at the sight of three year old Nathaniel Urban helping to haul mulch with the Monument bunch. Josh Day and his four girls under four years old joined in at Rockrimmon. The girls proudly took ownership of extracting mulch from rocks. The littles were on a mission to get things done!

Over at the Heights Campus, Margaret Birky led the charge sharing her excitement for honoring the teachers of Odyssey and Bricker Elementary by stuffing goodie bags and writing personalized appreciation cards for teacher appreciation week, amongst other service projects.

Members from Heights serving at Rocky Mountain Classical Academy added slats to the playground fence to enhance children’s safety while volunteers at Falcon Elementary repainted and decorated the staff bathrooms.

“It was fantastic!” Paul Kavalec shared.

After a hard day of work, many of the school contacts and volunteers were so impressed with the progress that was made that they couldn’t help but share their anticipation for the next serve day to come. It’s encouraging to see the difference that can be made in the community when its members gather together and lend a hand. Woodmen is grateful for everyone who served over the weekend and their commitment to helping their community flourish. Join us at our next CityServe day!
