HS Guatemala 2024 - Day 5
Day five in Guatemala and we’ve already seen God moving in amazing ways! On our way to the learning center we got stuck in a bit of traffic, but despite this the team handled it really well. Lots of flexibility and calmness, trusting in God’s perfect timing. Through this extra time on the buses many of us had some great opportunities to connect. Engaging in fun, or deep, conversations with fellow student, leaders, or translators. During this time running vbs in Cruz Blanca we have gotten to know the kids who attend school at the learning center really well! It has been amazing to see how everyone has interacted with them. The engagement and pure joy is evident on every person’s face, younger or older. Along with this, there wasn’t one person standing idly, instead choosing to jump in to help with construction projects, play with kids, or have meaningful conversations. Then during lunch we heard the testimony of the wonderful Ougita. At the end of her story, Addie R. offered to pray for her, this ended with an emotional embrace, God’s movement evident in the actions of both. It was wonderful to hear the stories of how the Lord has promoted woodmen students to fill extra time between rotations at vbs. One example would be of how when students attending the vbs wanted to ask questions about Audrey’s walk with God, providing the way to share her testimony. To end the day we heard an amazing devotional from Shelby reading through James 1:19-21 and James 1:2, along with others. Her words on exhaustion were just what we needed to finish up this week strong. She discussed anger and learning to have patience and listening to others. Through this how we can call in Jesus for these things. Today was an awesome day, and we can’t wait to see how God continues to during the rest of our time in Guatemala!
