College Guatemala #4

Today was such an amazing day! We got to see God work in so many amazing ways. we started the day with going out into the parking lot of the hotel that we are staying at and practicing our drama for the day (for the VBS we are running in Guatemala). once we went through it in english then in spanish, we went to breakfast. The breakfast was DELICIOUS!!!!! The fruit here is amazing and wayyyy better than the US. Something that was different here in Guatemala than in the US is that they had nachos for breakfast which was so interesting and cool. After fueling our bodies, we were sent to do different tasks to prepare for the VBS that we were running in Jicamapa. We are running a VBS this week Monday-Thursday in the morning and then in the afternoon we break out into three different groups to take photos of families in Jicamapa, paint the local school, and to do home visits. Driving here in Guatemala is so different than the US, it definitely keeps you on your toes. Once we got to Jicamapa, there was a huge line in front of the school with children waiting for us to arrive and the kids greeted us with hugs. These kids and their families brought so much joy to the team today. We all had our own personal struggles of the day, but we were able to see how God was faithful. We ran the VBS with worship, then the drama, then the games/crafts. The kiddos left we ate lunch, spent personal time with God, and got to hear the amazing testimonies of our interpreters. My afternoon group was able to take photos of some families and then provide these photos in picture frames. my team got to really connect with some kids from Jicamapa. We were able to build better and more deep connections with some of the younger kids during this part of the day. The laughs echoed in the courtyard, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces. When we got to the hotel we spent time with God and then enjoyed ourselves in the pool. It is such a blessing to have the time and ability to be able to swim in a pool after spending so much wonderful time in Jicamapa and together as a team. After we had our debrief and it was so intentional, honest, and loving. Clara led us in a devotional for the day to prepare us for the parable that we will be preforming in the drama. We then had four amazing testimonies from Justin, Levi, Kate, and Faith. Our time was filled with tears, laugher, smiles, care, and love for one another. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful team on this trip. The hearts of these individuals are incredible. The support that is given between team member is unlike any other. This team is so encouraging in life and in the faith of each and every one on this team. There are so many moments that are so special to all of us. We are truly making do many wonderful memories here. We are doing amazing things here and we are so excited to hangout with more people from Jicamapa tomorrow and for the rest of our time here. Thank you for all of your prayers!
