Guatemala July 2019

Welcome to the Guatemala July 2019 trip blog! Here you will find daily updates as to the teams day to day activities as we travel through and serve in Guatemala.

Our goal in traveling to Guatemala with a team of Woodmen Students is to serve and present the Gospel of Christ through relationship building, and aid to those who need it. We will be working alongside the organization Unum to reach out to the local community by running a day camp for local children and families. Through this, we get to teach the story of the importance of patience in waiting for God’s Plan to unfold through the story of Noah and the Ark, as well as sing and do crafts with the kids. We also get the opportunity to serve local families and the community in need by installing stoves for the purposes of cooking and keeping warm, as well as installing two water filters at a local public school.

Our team is so excited to begin the adventure that God has placed on our hearts to serve those in Guatemala. Our team leaders, Garret Baird, Heather Neely, Heather Miller, Karen Wilson, as well as the entire team of High School students, would ask you to join us in prayer for these specifics before and while we are on our trip.

First, as we begin our travel by plane, we would ask you to pray with us for safe travels. Though we won't be as tired on the way there as on the way back, pray with us for rest and preparation as we make our way to Guatemala.

Second, while we are in Guatemala and making our way into the local towns and villages, pray with us for God to bring healing and restoration to those who are broken and in need. Our mission is first and foremost to build relationships and to share the love of Christ., and we are doing this through service and care.

Lastly, pray for good team dynamics, patience, joy, and guidance from the Spirit. Our team is made up of 17 High Schoolers and 4 adults who will be close together for over a week, and pray that we will have plenty of opportunities to be authentic and real with one another.

We appreciate you joining in the mission God gave us to come together in fellowship and prayer to reach the far corners of the earth. Come back to this blog for daily updates on Guatemala July 2019 trip.
