Dominican Republic #3
We woke up rejuvenated from a good night’s rest to start the morning in prayer to prepare our hearts for the day, and then we did a quiet time about who Jesus is. Before heading to our sites, we sang worship music in both English and Spanish, and ate a wonderful breakfast of egg casserole and fruit.
Each team member went to various sites such as Healthcare, Girls and Guys Sports, Social Work, Technology, and Education where we will serve the community this week. We met our team leaders, learned about the needs of the site, and began working and interacting with community members. We were very thankful to feel welcomed and accepted by the locals who were excited to start working with us.
Our evening meal was a cultural dinner called ‘La Bandera’ meaning ‘The Flag’ which got its name from the colors and the presentation of the food appearing like the flag of the Dominican Republic. It was very delicious! During cultural night, we learned about the social life, the history, and the food of the Dominican Republic. Our day ended with a group dance of the merengue and coffee prepared Dominican Republic style which everyone enjoyed.
Thank you for your support and encouragement of the team and our Global Impact and Students International partners. We appreciate your prayers as the team continues to serve and work with the long-term missionaries this week. We are looking forward to another great day tomorrow!
