Dominican Republic #2
We arrived yesterday, on time, in good spirits and a little tired. We began our journey leaving the Rockrimmon campus around 8pm Saturday evening. We flew out of Denver on a red eye flight to Miami and had a short layover. We had the unexpected surprise of experiencing other Latin American foods at the restaurants at the airport terminal. A couple of team members enjoyed a little Cuban culture by trying papa rellena, which is a potato dumpling with delicious minced meat in the center. They had a guava cheese empanada, an authentic Cuban sandwich and a café con leche (coffee with milk) which was delicioso!!
After we arrived in Santiago, we made our way to the Student’s International base. On the bus ride, we met new friends from Maryland who will be serving with us for the week. We got settled into our rooms and had orientation in the evening.
Thank you to all who are praying for us. Your prayers are felt by how well all of the travel details came together. We appreciate Global Impact and all who are supporting our trip financially and spiritually. We are look forward to a great week serving alongside the full time missionaries at their ministry sites!
