Kenya Day 5, High School 2023

Hey parents,

I'm Tyler, one of the 2 boys on the trip. I was put to the task to run through what we did today. This morning, we woke up bright and early and enjoyed some sandwiches Christine, the lady who cooks for us, made the night before. Our breakfast table moved from the dining room table in the guest house to two lovely vans driven by Jimmy and Duncan. Our "surprise" for our tourism day was to go on a safari, but I think we all knew that is what we were going to do. After a quick pit-stop to get one of the vans unstuck off the driveway of the guest house, we drove an hour and half into Nairobi National Park. It was still dark out when we left but as we arrived the sun had freshly gone up and we were ready to see some animals. It was very cool for what I picture as Africa which made us hopeful to see many animals. 5 minutes into the safari, we saw our first giraffe. It was a good start. Later on we went to see almost every African animal imaginable like Rhinos, lions, baboons, zebras and so much more. We enjoyed talking to our drivers and getting to know them. After our safari, we went to a local tourist restaurant and shopping area. We ate good Kenyan-American food and then shopped for basically any trinket, spear, mask I've ever thought of. We then went to the giraffe sanctuary where, like Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, the giraffes could come right up to the walkway and we could feed them. After this, we drove back to the house and had a lovely dinner with our housekeeper, Robert. Robert is an amazing young man. After sharing his testimony with us, we asked him some questions like "What are you praying for?" His first response was that he wants to know God more. It was mind-blowing to me to think that God is igniting fire around the world, not just in my circle in the United States. Our God is an awesome God and is mighty to save anyone. I felt that even in our day off, we were able to minister and hear from Robert which excites me to renew my commitment to missions at home even when that is not my job on a mission trip. God has been so good to us and I pray that He will continue in what he is doing. No matter what it is I know he has a plan and I am completely submissive to Him.
