Kenya Day 4, High School 2023
Guys guess what! Some of our team got to be in the operating room today while surgeries were happening. Thanks to the wonderful staff of CURE, we were are given the opportunity to observe some life changing surgeries. We'll get back to that. We started out the day not knowing what was in store for us. We made our way to the mid week chapel for all the staff here at CURE. We are so blessed to be a part of that wonderful experience, I was even put into a skit with some of the hospitality team. That got a few laughs and really made my day. After chapel we spilt off into our groups. Three of us made our way into surgery and it was absolutely amazing! Something I never expected I would ever be able to do without being in health care. We got to see the doctors perform life-changing surgeries on many little kids, and they were all welcoming and willing to teach us about what they were doing. While Sierra, Maddie, Austin and I were in the operating room, the rest of our team was serving around the hospital in the kitchen, ward and laundry. After our amazing experience in the OR, our group made our way to the kitchen where we cleaned the dishes from lunch. We shared laughs and a little bit of splashed water. Shortly after that we headed back to the ward where we lead the patients in worship and a devotional before heading back to our guest house for dinner. We then spent some alone time with the Lord and then we got back together to debrief. We shared about our days and the highs and the lows and then I got to share my testimony. It was such an amazing experience that was stretching but also so rewarding. I really felt the presence of the Lord! I am so thankful for all that CURE has provided for us this trip and I can't wait for more to come!
