Zambia Day 5, 2023

Today was Day 2 of our team serving in the Cure Hospital and loving on these absolutely amazing kids! We started off the day with devotion, again, with the Cure staff, then proceeded to put on some super cute and fun skits and puppet shows for some of the patients in the waiting room, where we performed skits of Jonah and the Whale, Adam and Eve, and Jesus Calming the Sea. We sang songs with all of the people in the waiting room, and the parents even began to sing their own Zambian songs, and we all enjoyed the time of waiting together.

Later in the day we brought out face paint and nail polish for the kiddos and the mothers and the kids absolutely loved it, we had such an amazing time face painting these kids and their mothers, but of course, we had to get in on the action as well, so almost all of our team was covered in face paint as well. We all had a blast!

After face paint, we went on to do a maintenance project for the hospital, and we divided into two groups that helped wash and clean the sidewalks for the kids to play on. A separate group from our team went to the workshop as well and helped paint wooden crutches that had been made the day before.

For the rest of the day we all hung out in a huge group on the lawn with all of the kids and we played with the grass and taught kids and mothers how to whistle with the grass and with their hands, and we all just bonded and had an absolutely incredible time loving on these kids and watching them smile and laugh uncontrollably.

The last thing we did, put on by the Cure staff, was a cookout. We walked down a trail to this small area with a fire and the smell of incredible food. The staff prepared an entire cookout with so many different things, and funnily enough, none of us truly knew what we ate! All we can say is it was the best meal, so so so delicious. We talked with the staff while we ate about culture, and the differences we have witnessed, and even joked about some of the similarities and differences between Zambia and the USA. It was an amazing way to end an absolutely terrific day.

Seeing God work in the hospital, and seeing the kids’ faces light up was truly a gift we all got to witness today, and made us even more excited for the next few days we get to spend with these beautiful, beautiful people.
