Salt Lake City 2023 - Day 4

SALT LAKE CITY - Day 4

Hello, today was great (July 10). FYI this Landon Lofthouse. The boys got hyper about waking up at 7:30 AM, whereas the girls got up at 7:00 AM. We went to Salt Lake City and went to the actual place where ‘The Sandlot’ was filmed. They are celebrating the 30th anniversary with a carnival and a watch party at the original field in August. But the field wasn't looking too good. There was a lotta junk, scratchy tall grass, big rocks, and debris.

Okay, if you haven’t watched ‘The Sandlot’ before, then skip this next paragraph that we learned today. So, I hope you remember the treehouse in the movie…? If you can, then👍! That tree wasn’t in the ground with roots. They cut it down somewhere else, and then dug a hole and cemented it in. And then the leaves (🍃) died (🍁). So they took all the leaves off, and rounded up thousands of polyester leaves from cheap craft stores, and attached them to the tree. We got to play whiffle ball on 'The Sandlot’ field.

After lunch, we went to International Peace Gardens where there were 100 languages spoken in that neighborhood. So each country got its own spot to plant flowers and take care of. It was really neat. We then sorted through food (specifically fruit) to give to people who are in need of free groceries and there was a lot of mold & weird stuff on it. So we went through every piece of food and the girls specifically were skeptical about touching it.

Then we spent the evening at Genesis Project where we are sleeping and played 9-square and wrapped up the night with a talent show.

Thanks for reading,

Landon Lofthouse
