Estonia April 2019 Day 5

What does it mean to walk into the gates of heaven "all used up?" As we pondered this statement from one of our teammates the last few days, we were stretched to go outside our comfort zone and really explore what it might mean.

Arriving in Tartu, a University town, we could already sense Gods hands at work. In a devotional and prayer time with members of Cru at Agape Kohvik, this scripture came up: "Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." (Mark 9:37-38)

Later that day we engaged in conversations with University students to get feedback from them on various topics, including their beliefs about faith, religion, Christianity and God. An overwhelming consensus was that they did not believe in God. Very few proclaimed knowledge or belief in God. We planted seeds with them about how they could become involved in Agape Kohvik, a local hangout that welcomes students of all backgrounds and offers a course to learn about God, among many other activities. The day prior, we were able to share our testimonies with students and an adult small group who are curious and skeptical yet willing to investigate faith.

Our hope in sharing is that seeds were planted and eyes would be opened to the truth. In a culture where faith is not popular or acknowledged, the members of Cru encouraged us that although the impact of our conversations with students seemed hollow, Gods hands are at work. We continue to see how the few Christ followers in Estonia that we have worked with have a deep passion for sharing their hope with a lost community. They are the "handful of laborers" who are diligently serving Christ and are using every opportunity they can. I don't think any of us want to get to heaven and regret not sharing Jesus with strangers or loved ones. We want to be "all used up" in serving Him. Pray for us to continue to step out boldly in professing our our faith. ❤
