August Blog – Women's Ministry

God Created You

Hello everyone!

My name is Mia McCorkle, and I have had the immense privilege of working with Woodmen’s Women’s Ministry as an intern this summer. When Traci asked me to write for this month’s blog, I was so excited to hopefully share a little encouragement with you ladies.

I want to encourage you with something that I have been learning over the past 10 weeks. This may seem like an obvious statement, but here it is …

God created you uniquely and intentionally with so much purpose.

In Scripture, we are reminded that we are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). We are reminded that we are knit together fearfully and wonderfully by the Creator of all things (Psalm 139). We are reminded about the identity that is given to us in Christ (John 1:12-13). We are reminded about our responsibility and purpose as daughters of the Most High (1 Peter 2:9).

But how often do we let the lies of the enemy intercept this truth? How often do we choose to speak the lies of the enemy over our lives, rather than the truths of our loving Father? In John 10:10, we are reminded that Satan, our enemy, is a thief who aims to steal from us, kill us, and destroy us. In 1 Peter 5:8, we are reminded that he is like a roaring lion seeking out someone to devour. Friends! Satan is the great deceiver … Daily, he strives to take our eyes off Him who brings abundant life. Although I know this, I unfortunately find myself choosing discouraging lies over empowering truth.

You see, although we may have a head knowledge of the truth, we often can be reluctant to genuinely believe it. Personally, this summer I have seen myself give into the temptation of comparing myself to others. Comparison is one of the enemy’s favorite tools to discourage our God-given gifts. While we are created uniquely, we are also purposed uniquely. As God’s children, we all have one common mission – We are called to know God and to make Him known to the world around us. However, God has given each of us unique gifts and abilities to fulfill this commission. That is the beauty in the Body of Christ! We are one body with many parts! You may be the eye, while I may be the foot … totally different functions, yet incredibly necessary for the body to operate efficiently.

I encourage you to pause and read 1 Corinthians 12:12-27. I pray that as you reflect on God’s truth (the ONLY truth) you are reminded that you are not meant to be a copy of your neighbor. You, sister, are called to take on the mindset of Christ and live out the identity of a daughter of the King. In addition to that, God has given you specific gifts that the body of Christ needs. When we begin to envy our neighbor’s calling, we may very easily miss out on the unique ways God is desiring to use us for His glory.

This is a challenging truth, but it is also one that brings so much freedom. Rest in His truth, and rest in His grace. He is patiently and faithfully going before you today as you walk in Him. I pray that you are emboldened to uniquely shine unashamedly for Christ today! You are loved!
