Zambia Student Trip 2022 - day 6

Today was a day of sad goodbyes but also a day of immense fun and genuine relationships being made. To start the day off, we woke up to delicious grilled cheese sandwiches and scrambled eggs. Quickly after, we hurried over to the chapel to lead the Cure hospital in worship accompanied by an amazing lesson lead by Jacob. Still in the mood of worship, we headed over to the children's ward to sing more worship with all the children and mothers. Then there was a quick devotional and Bible story where each of us had a part to read to the whole ward. The rest of the morning was filled with fun on the playground with all of the children and constant soccer, as well as helping to build shelves with the workers. Lunch time came around and we had the traditional nshima with a sardine-like fish called kapenta. This was an abundance of new flavors. The rest of the afternoon consisted of ministry in the ward. We handed out popcorn and drinks to all the patients and then it was time for the nail polish. Every team member went around with nail polish and painted the hands and feet of the mothers and patients that wanted it. Even some of the dads wanted their fingernails painted! Then came the bubbles. We blew bubbles everywhere in the ward and made a fun and joy filled mess. The end of the day neared and we sadly had to say our goodbyes to the children and all the staff members. To end the night, Deb and Quinn made us amazing fettuccine alfredo with garlic bread and salad. Best meal of the week by far! We then did our debrief and the rest of the night was filled with fun games and the enjoyment of each other’s company.

Today was filled with the works of God in every way. We saw God through the joy of the children and the compassion of the mothers. Even when these people have nothing they are still so happy because they have God and it’s contagious. As they say continuously in the ward, “God is good all the time, and all the time God is good”
