Mexico Student Trip 2022 - Day 4

This morning we started our day with lovely rainy weather on our way to a scrumdiliotious breakfast, after breakfast we split into our work groups. The groups consisted of brick making, fixing a fishing net/ lawn work, and painting two of the rooms on Base (the girls had the best time painting the rooms because they got to listen to some awesome worship music and talk to some more people at the Base). After four very well put in hours of work, where the boys cranked out 150 solid bricks, we headed to the kitchen for some lunch and got into a heated debate about whether rice is better plain or with seasonings (plain rice won).

After that we started getting ready for our second village visit at Esperanza de Los Pobres. At the village, (Noah, Jared, Meghan, Angelo, and John got to go on a fun excursion on the way) we got to perform two songs multiple times for the kiddos, put on a skit about Jesus healing the paralyzed man, and how the paralyzed man had some awesome homies. Then we had some activities for the kids like face painting, games, and crafts we also got our photos taken with the people in the village which was pretty cool (there were definitely some favorites in the group).

When we got back to Base, we headed to the kitchen again for dinner and some “authentic” hortchata and TACOOOOOOOS. After dinner, we headed to the chapel where we accidentally de-tailed a lizard, had an AWESOME time worshipping Jesus, had some girls scream at bugs, and then had a fun debrief about what stretched us that day and gave a few shout-outs to people and got to hear some phenomenal testimonies (there was also a scorpion on the wall when we were leaving which was pretty swaggy). It is so meaningful to see how God is working through us and using our unique skills and stretching us to help share the Gospel and to grow Gods kingdom.
