Mexico Student Trip 2022 - Day 3

Hi! I’m Haylee and I’m part of the 2022 Mexico missions trip. I am thrilled to be part of this amazing organization and helping the people that need it most.

Today we woke up, had a wonderful breakfast prepared by some amazing souls and we got right to work. My team and I worked on the ranch and at home base, helping get the place scraped and painted. While all the guys were at the ranch making bricks and cement for the roads and homes, us girls were painting rooms for the kids. We cleaned up the ceilings, got rid of all the cobwebs and spiders and started construction. We scraped the walls and got it all smooth so we could plaster the holes and work on painting. After a few paint spills and a lot of giggles we had all the walls ready to get painted. We started on the ceiling as the plaster dried on the wall. By the time we were finished it was lunch time and time to get ready to head to the first village we are visiting. We got all cleaned up and headed to another amazing meal where we nourished our bodies in preparation for spreading the word of God. We headed to the chapel where we went over the dances, skits and games we had previously prepared for this trip. After going over our plan we got ready and piled in the vans and headed to the village. Once we got there we split up into groups and headed out to talk to people about the event we were holding. Each group had a translator so we didn’t have to worry about language barriers. It was fun to talk to these natives who speak little English and just learn from them. We walked the whole village. Then headed back to the court where we got to focus on these little peoples' hearts. We started with a dance we had learned about Jesus. The kids where so into it! It was amazing to see how hungry these kids are for their Father in heaven. They want to learn so much about Him and have those experiences and encounters with Him. They engaged in everything we did - if it was the skit or the games even the craft. After a great time we headed back to the base for dinner. We had our debrief time where we heard testimonies from 5 of our team members. We also had the opportunity to talk about where we saw God working in the team members! It was an amazing day.
