Thursday in Guatamala

Today we started the morning with a yummy breakfast of tortillas filled with cheese, bacon, and eggs and topped with tomato sauce along with beans and fresh fruit. The fruit has been so good here! After breakfast, we loaded up into the van and car and headed to the learning center. Upon arriving, we quickly got organized and ready for our second day of vbs. The kids came shortly after and we had a great morning of rotations (worship, crafts, games, and teaching). I helped with crafts and it was so fun watching the kids decorate their canvas pencil bags using stencils and markers. Two girls wanted to put Ella, Lexi, and my name (Caitlin) on their bags so that they can remember us every time they use their pencil pouches. It was so sweet! We also met a little boy who was deaf. A few of us know American Sign Language, which wasn't exactly the same as Guatemala sign language, but we were able to communicate with him a little bit which was so special! For lunch we had sandwiches as we listened to two more of the teachers' stories. The learning center staff also surprised us with flower bouquets for everyone! This area of Guatemala is known for growing flowers so it was a unique gift and very thoughtful considering all the girls have been wanting flowers the entire trip. We had three more rotations in the afternoon before finishing up and heading back to Mimi's. Tonight we had hot dogs for dinner and then did devos and testimonies on the roof. Overall, it was a great day and we are all looking forward to another fun day of sports camp tomorrow!
