God Pursues All of Us
God was moving at Summer Day Camp last month!
What do you think of when you think of June? School ending, summer starting, vacation? All accurate thoughts, but for us in Woodmen Kids, we think SUMMER DAY CAMP! We look forward to the hundreds of kids coming through our doors and volunteers bringing the love of Jesus to the kids in our community!
Our Kids Team has been praying for camp since last fall when we met to discuss our theme, daily Bible stories and what overall message our kids needed to hear. As we brainstormed, read Bible passages and researched together, it became clear to us — we want kids to know that God loves them and He pursues a relationship with each one of them. Even when we wander off; HE WANTS US. In a world where relationships are shaky, messages are twisted and it can be challenging to know right from wrong, these messages of truth are imperative!
This year, we welcomed over 1,500 kids to three Woodmen campuses, one outreach school, and a student mission trip to Fort Collins. At all of these locations, kids learned about parables to reinforce this message that they are pursued by God's love.
Every year, we also pick a mission focus to help kids think outside of themselves and learn how they can serve others. Our mission focus this year was OrphaNetwork in Nicaragua. Together, we raised $15,948.25 to support the after school program at Posoltega Church.
Throughout the week, kids washed cars, pulled weeds, held lemonade stands, vacuumed, cleaned toilets and much more. Why? To help kids they have never met. What an amazing way to show God's love to others!
There is no better way to invest our time than in sharing Jesus' love with kids! Our Kids Team feels honored to partner with you as you raise your kids to know Jesus. One of our camp crew leaders shared a story with us that should be an encouragement to you, as you shepherd your kids in their spiritual journey.
She said, "During our small group time, we had one little girl who could hardly contain herself because she was so excited to answer questions about the parable and Jesus. She loved summarizing the story and telling the whole group how it showed God's love for us. She later whispered to me, "My mom loves telling us Bible stories. She does it everyday. We love talking about Jesus."
The time you spend and the foundation you lay matters — well done to each one of you!
