At Summer Camp this year, kids were encouraged to do Chores4Cure to help raise money that provides life-changing surgical care, along with intentional spiritual care, for children living with disabilities in Zambia.
For the weeks of Summer Camp at both Rockrimmon and Woodmen Heights, we challenged the kids to raise $9,000 between both campuses. We were blown away by the results!
Kids took on the challenge all over the city and pulled weeds for neighbors, walked dogs, cleaned kitchens, sold their artwork and held lemonade stands all to show God’s love to others across the world. Because of their selfless generosity, they that not only met the goal, but they also exceeded it and raised $13,472.95!
One day, after a fun morning at Summer Camp, a mom approached me, and with tears in her eyes, shared with me that her 11 year old daughter gets $1 a month in allowance. She’s been saving up her money for something special but when she heard about the surgeries and CURE International, she excitedly gave $51.00! 4 years’ worth of her money to help other children in need. I love seeing the kids really understand what it means to help others in Jesus’ name. It truly is more blessed to give than to receive and this sweet girl got it. What an inspiration to all of us!
