Found Connection

"It was evidence of God's perfect timing"

“It was evidence of God’s perfect timing,” Lauren Walls says as she recalls her visit to Connect Central last fall.

It was a busy day at Connect Central when Lauren decided to stop by after attending the 9 AM service at the Rockrimmon campus. New to town, she was looking to get plugged into a community of fellow believers.

As Lauren approached, she noticed Deb Pinyerd, the Connect Coordinator at Rockrimmon, speaking with another girl close to her age. Deb greeted Lauren with a smile and gestured for her to join their conversation.

Deb introduced herself and Rachel Mckinvigan, who’d just walked up to Connect Central a few moments prior to Lauren. After only a few moments of chatting, Lauren and Rachel realized they had both recently moved to Colorado Springs.

As Deb began telling them about the opportunities to connect at Woodmen, a third girl, Anna Keeley, walked up to Connect Central. Noticing she was also the same age as Lauren and Rachel, Deb invited her into their conversation.

Anna explained that she had also recently moved to Colorado Springs after graduating college. Excited by the girls’ similarities, Deb realized how special the timing was. Within just a few moments of each other, all three girls had come to Connect Central seeking to find connection and community at Woodmen. Because of God’s perfect timing, they met each other.

After a fruitful conversation with the three girls, Deb invited them to the Woodmen Welcome happening later that day. Hoping that they would continue to get to know one another, she treated them to coffee at 1979 and encouraged them to chat further while they waited for the event to start. All three agreed to stay.

Over coffee, they discovered that their similarities didn’t stop at being new to Colorado Springs. Lauren and Anna figured out they had just started working in the same school district. Additionally, all three shared similar interests and hobbies, including hiking and spending time outside.

At Woodmen Welcome, Lauren, Rachel and Anna decided to make Woodmen their church home. Afterward, they all exchanged numbers and decided to attend the 9 AM service with one another on a weekly basis.

Now, months later, the three girls feel blessed to call one another a close friend. Their tradition of attending church together stuck. They also enjoy going for hikes and grabbing coffee throughout the week to encourage one another in their walk with God. They also decided to each join a different Community Group to make sure they could connect with others at Woodmen.

Lauren, Rachel and Anna didn’t expect to find such meaningful friendships so quickly after moving to a new place. They are each in awe of God’s perfect timing and how His fingerprints are so clearly seen in their story. If any of them decided not to take the leap of faith in stopping by Connect Central, they would have missed out on what God had for them.
