Discipleship Institute

Discipleship Institute is offering a four-night "Gospel Bundle" exploring key topics and themes to enrich your understanding of Jesus in the unfolding story of Scripture.

  • Night One (Sept. 14): How to Read the Gospels Wisely

This one-night teaching will not only equip you to read the gospels literarily, but it will also help you appreciate the theological richness of the gospel story. You'll learn how to read individual scenes within their broader gospel and canonical contexts. If you've ever read the gospels and thought, "I must be missing something," this evening will help you uncover the beauty of what you've missed.

  • Night Two (Sept. 21): A Literary and Theological Exploration of Luke-Acts

As Acts 1:1 makes clear, Luke's gospel account explores all that Jesus began to do and teach. But in his second volume, Luke testifies to all that Jesus continued to do through his body--the church. If you want to grasp the big-picture themes of Luke's two-part volume so that you can meditate on these Scripture's more richly, then join us this evening!

  • Night Three (Sept. 28): Getting to Know Jesus through The Old Testament

When Jesus is Transfigured, the Father speaks from Heaven, "This is my Son, my chosen One; listen to him!" (Lk. 9:35). God is teaching us how to read Scripture here. By using the terms, "my Son" and "chosen One", the Father links us to various places in the Old Testament. In other words, if you want to know Jesus' identity, you need to know the Old Testament. This one-night teaching will help you connect Old and New Testament puzzle pieces so that you can see your Savior's Mosaic through all of Scripture.

  • Night Four (Oct. 5): What Happened at the Cross? A Look at Church History From Irenaeus to Calvin

Why did Jesus have to die? How does the death of one man deal with the sins of humanity throughout history? Throughout church history, key members within the Body of Christ have offered various ways to think about these kinds of questions. In this one-night teaching, we'll explore the multi-faceted accomplishments of Christ's work upon the cross. And we'll do so by following the reflections of various church leaders.
