Guatemala Serving Day #1
Today was our first day of the vacation Bible school that we are putting on in a local church here in Guatemala. It was a blast! After a great breakfast at the house that we are staying at we drove to the church. The entire set up of the VBS is definitely a very different experience than any VBS I have ever helped at before. At the VBS I am helping run the worship rotation! Today we got a lot of practice with our Spanish singing as 6 groups of children rotated through the different stations we have set up.
After the first four groups of children rotated through the stations, we got to take a lunch break. In that time we got to talk to and connect with the translators who helping us. After lunch we had a few more groups to rotate through. In all, today was a successful day at the church.
Once we got back to the house we are staying at we got some tacos! Today is taco Tuesday! The tacos were amazing. Afterwards me and some of the guys played pool and watched some ping pong in the general area of the house. There are two other groups that are staying here so we often see them. Eventually we headed back to our room to hear about UNUM’s mission and debrief. Then we heard testimonies from two of our team members: Kenton and Lily. Today was a great day!
Blessed be the LORD, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle; he is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield and he in whom I take refuge, who subdues the people under me.
Psalm 144
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for serving the LORD and not for men, knowing that from the LORD, you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving tue LORD Christ.
Colossians 3:23-24
