Nashville Day #1

Throughout this trip, we are aiming to learn about the culture of Nashville. Today specifically set us up to start understanding their norms. Going to church at Proclamation and hearing Pastor Derrick speak gave us a close inside look to the inner workings of the Christian Nashville Community. At the same time that some students were attending service, others were serving Proclamation by greeting attendees, directing parking, and serving with Kids Ministry. (Don’t worry: we switched off so that all of us got to attend service.) 

        After the service, we helped finalize and set up for kids week. Then we got to enjoy a delicious lunch of PB&J and meat and cheese sandwiches while hanging out with our team. Next, we played some games while some team members split off with their groups for kids week. Once we were all prepared, we played even more games and had an amazing dinner of tacos. After dinner we went into a debrief where we had worship, testimonies and shared about our day. As a surprise, after debrief, we celebrated Malakai’s birthday with root beer floats (and we sang happy birthday to him every chance we got).

              When we got back to the hotel, we headed to the pool and while some of the group swam, the rest of us played intense card games. When we finished with the pool, we all headed to bed. Praying for a meaningful and safe week ahead!
