Zambia #4 Compassion & Community
Ministry continues at Cure Children's Hospital! Today was a day full of compassion, community and a touch of chaos. We began the day by joining all of the staff for chapel. The word of God was brought by a member of the staff and his fresh take on the scriptures has touched all of our team. Following Chapel, several of our staff spent time attending to new patients who are visiting the hospital for consultations by speaking at the patient's chapel and individually praying and caring for as many families as possible.
We then set out into the city for a community outreach program at a local Christian school. We gathered with 160 children to share puppet shows, teaching and music. We ended our time with games, which can be a little chaotic with 160 children in the same classroom! Fun was had by all.
Our afternoon consisted of a puppet retelling of Jonah, crafts and coloring. We then spent time going bed by bed in the ward to complete crafts and fellowship with all of the patients.
As we gathered to consider our day, the team was overwhelmed by the amount of compassion and care shown to the children and caregivers by each and every member of the staff and for the community that exists between the children and caregivers. We continue to look forward to another day of ministry!
