Family Passover Seder

Spend intentional time as a family during this season of Lent by creating your own Passover Seder.

Easter is such a special time for those who believe in Jesus - we get to celebrate Jesus is alive! He is our Savior! In Woodmen Kids, we take time every few months to remember and celebrate what the Lord is doing in kids' lives. During these weekends, we focus on one of the Jewish feasts or festivals, dig deeper into why it was celebrated, and reflect on how we can celebrate in a similar way.

Passover is a Jewish tradition celebrating the Israelites' redemption from bondage in the land of Egypt. Christians may observe this celebration as it foreshadows our redemption from the bondage of sin. The first Passover occurred in Exodus 12 when God sent the last of ten plagues on the people in Egypt. The LORD instructed the Israelites to take an unblemished lamb and sacrifice it for the sins of their family. They were instructed to sprinkle the blood of the lamb on the doorframes of their home, so the angel of death would "pass over" and not take anyone's life. In the same way, Passover helps us remember Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God offered as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

The first night of the Passover holiday begins with a special meal - the Passover Seder. Each part of this meal is done in a specific order and represents a part of the Passover ritual. Through eating, drinking, and sharing stories, this ritual is a special celebration many people continue to participate in today.

As we enter the Easter season and reflect on the meaning of the holiday, we encourage your family to take time to remember and celebrate through hosting your own Passover Seder.

Use the guide linked below to prepare and implement your own Seder. We pray this resource is a great tool for your family to continue learning and growing in your walk with the Lord!
