Nicaragua 20s #3
Welcome back, friends! Today we’re covering Day 3—aka the day we discovered just how much you can sweat before it becomes a personality trait.
Then we headed into the community where we've been doing ministry with all ages. Today felt especially meaningful—we spent the morning split into men’s and women’s groups, and then had a youth event in the afternoon.
The women on our team stayed at the church for a devotional and craft with the women from the community. It was a really sweet time to connect and have intentional conversation. Meanwhile, the guys walked through the community visiting different men. They had the chance to share verses and encouragement, and to just listen to their stories.
We all met back up for lunch—PB&Js, mmmhhmmm!! The most superior lunch.
After lunch, we started getting ready for the youth event. That meant setting up chairs and raking the soccer field. I’ve never sweat more. Before the event started, we walked through the neighborhood inviting youth to come hang out. Even though we had translators, we tried our best with our Spanish, which made for some funny moments—but it worked!
The turnout was amazing—kids as young as two and young adults showed up. We had worship and a message. (Shout out to Ian bringing a great message on Hearing from God and how to be an intentional listener!) New friendships were forming and there was laughter everywhere. Actually, laughter was kind of the theme of the day—between teammates, local partners, kids, youth, and even the adults. It was a sweet sight to see & hear.
We ended the day with some barbecue and time to debrief as a team. Overall, it was a really sweet day, and it’s been so cool to see how God continues to work in big and small ways.
Thanks for running into another day with the 20 something’s in Nicaragua!
