Tulsa Day 3
Today was an amazing day! We started off at a ranch, where we help the men hang up tomatoes, prune plants, and pick weeds. As the day went on we continued our work at The John 3:16 project, before any of the kids actually got hurt, one of our own boys got hurt playing football ( He’s fine, but gave us a scare), after that fun incident we continued to put on the VBS for the kids. We love these kids, they are definitely wild, but they are so fun! After the kids had all gone, we got showers and headed to this memorial park called John Hope Franklin Reconciliation Park.
This park was a great reminder that all men are sinners, as we learned about the history of Tulsa we learned some very hard things related to segregation and the bombings, which are failed to be mention in every and all history books across the United States, we are so very fortunate to have our wonderful Heather Miller to give us all this information, as she had grown up here as well. But we also learned how Tulsa pulled through and has turned into the beautiful, but hot and humid city. As we walked around the park we had some quiet time in groups of 2 and 3 to pray for Tulsa, and our group added in our own prayer requests as it was just a beautiful time to just talk with him, and pray for your friends. The car rides are also a very fun part of this trip! Matt has all the Taylor Swift songs, and Heather has the country, Sam has a mix of all the music, and Cindy has a mix of all the Christian hymns! Dinner was the very tasty treat of Chick-fil-a, and it was just a fun time to talk with friends and get a break from all the heat and craziness of the day. As we continued our day, because lights out isn't technically until 10:30, we had a great time playing 9 square with a lot of the people on the trip, our favorite thing to say is PHYSICS, when we punch the ball straight up and it goes wild! Then we headed back into debrief we heard some more of the testimonies, it is truly a blessing to be trusted with hearing and seeing the change in all of these people. We feel truly blessed to be able to take part in the lives of our Tulsa team, and in the life of the people we are serving every day, as the week goes on, We are excited to see what wonders God had planned for the rest of the trip, and we are very excited to share what we have done when we see you all back on Saturday Morning!
