Montana Jun 25 #1
It was a ten hour car journey for most of the team. We were all headed towards our final destination, Lame Deer, Montana. We arrived Saturday afternoon and set up camp for our week long stay. Jerry, our trip leader, reviewed our plans, some security guidelines and our overall purpose of fostering new and deepening existing relationships with the Northern Cheyenne tribe. We had arrived after a few months of preparation that included learning about the history of the Northern Cheyenne people and their connection to the Sand Creek area of Colorado.
Sunday included church with the local Mennonite congregation and a shared group meal. Music worship included a few songs in the native Cheyenne language. We had arrived and were being transformed by the beauty of the local area. Local friends old and new dropped by for a cup of joe. We had arrived.
Tomorrow we kick off our VBS with the Mennonite church. We are also trying something brand new - a sports camp. We have no idea how many young ones we will minister to, but are trusting in a God who has ordered our step to this point. As we hand our flyers in town talking about both of these opportunities we rest in the knowledge that He knows who needs to be there this week. Which children need to hear about a God who loves them even in the midst of their pain.
Pray for the team as we engage the local community. May God get all the glory. Amen.
