A DAY TO PRAY
Will you join us in making prayer a priority? Thursday, May 2, is this year’s National Day of Prayer. Set aside time to pray on your own, or with friends or family. Here are five prayer suggestions to guide and unite our hearts as we call out to the Lord:
Our Land and Leaders
Pray for our nation, our state, our county and city and those who lead them—that they would know the Lord has called them to serve for His glory and the good of all people. Ask God to shape us into a country that strives for righteousness, peace and justice at home and abroad.
Those Who are Vulnerable
Pray for those who are hurting. Ask our heavenly Father to heal the sick, provide for those without work or homes, comfort those who are discouraged, and bring compassion to those with special physical and mental needs. Intercede for future generations who face struggles and uncertainties that would dim their hope today.
Racial Reconciliation and Justice
We have heard and believed God’s good news of great joy for every person of every culture and color. Ask our Creator God to help us see each other as sons and daughters formed in the image of His love. Invite Him to stir our lips to speak words of life and stir our hands to carry the cause of justice and freedom alongside all who are oppressed.
Unity of the Church
Ask the Holy Spirit to empower us to love one another and be a new community in Christ. Thank God for the gospel that unites the fellowship of believers across the aisle, across the city and across the globe. Ask Him to give us eyes to see the lost in light of eternity and hearts to humbly seek Him first in all things.
Peace in the Nations
Thank Christ for His all-encompassing love and saving sacrifice for the world. Ask the Lord to let justice and peace prevail in Ukraine, in Israel and Gaza, across the middle east and wherever war threatens. Call out to Him to bring about just, caring relationships between groups who were once enemies and to raise up leaders who seek flourishing and freedom for all.
